Quick answerAn EPUB reformatter recovers the reading order, chapters, emphasis, images, notes, and metadata from an existing ebook, then applies a new typographic system without changing the source file. Coverfairy shows exactly what was preserved and what was intentionally replaced before the refreshed edition reaches export.
What survives when an EPUB is imported?
Coverfairy follows the EPUB spine rather than archive order, then recovers chapter and matter roles, paragraph text, headings, italics, bold, small caps, superscript and subscript, scene breaks, block quotations, verse, images and descriptions, captions, footnotes, endnotes, title, author, and language. The import report calls out skipped or simplified structures instead of silently pretending they survived.
What changes when the book is re-themed?
The existing EPUB's CSS and page design are intentionally replaced by the selected Coverfairy theme. The words, reading order, semantic styling, and media remain editable book content; typefaces, chapter-openers, running heads, folios, spacing, and print pagination come from the new system. The original EPUB on your device is never overwritten.
Can the refreshed edition also become a print book?
Yes. Once the imported book is in the studio, choose a trim and theme, make any production corrections, and preview the real pagination. That page count updates the matching cover spine. The paid interior export includes a validated reflowable EPUB and KDP-ready PDF for the same book project.
Frequently asked questions
What does Coverfairy preserve from my EPUB?
The spine order, chapters, matter roles, text, emphasis, images and descriptions, captions, notes, title, author, and language are recovered into the editable book model.
Will it keep the old EPUB design?
No. The import report tells you that the old CSS and page design are replaced by the Coverfairy theme you choose. Your original EPUB is not modified.
Can I edit the text after importing?
Yes. The EPUB becomes the same editable Book Studio manuscript as a Word import, including chapter structure, semantic formatting, images, notes, and page intent.
Can I export print as well?
Yes. The same imported book can produce the refreshed EPUB and a KDP-ready interior PDF, with its real page count feeding the cover spine.
